Danfoss Advanced Active Filter AAF 007

The Danfoss Advanced Active Filter AAF 007 is designed to reduce harmonic distortion of centrally or decentrally-installed Danfoss drives. The newest-generation SiC switches give unmatched high efficiency with 60% lower power losses compared to similar filters and offer effective elimination of high-order harmonics. The filter is mcompatible with all drives in the Danfoss product portfolio, and is delivered pre-configured and tuned from factory, ready to use with a wide range of current transducers.

VLT® Advanced Harmonic Filter

AHF 005/010 is a cost-effective, passive filter solution which combines the reliability and performance of Danfoss drives with the innovative technology of passive harmonic filters.

Compared to traditional harmonic trap filters, AHF offers a smaller footprint and higher harmonic reductions.

The solution is available in two variants, AHF 005 and AHF 010. When connected in front of a Danfoss drive, the harmonic current distortion generated back to the mains is reduced to 5% and 10% Total Harmonic Current Distortion at full load, dependant on model selection.

With a >98% efficiency the passive Advanced Harmonic Filters offer cost effective and very robust harmonic solutions specifically for power up to 250 kW.

As stand-alone options the Advanced Harmonic Filters feature a compact housing that is easily integrated into existing panel space. This makes them well-suited for retrofit applications with limited adjustments of the frequency converter.

Sine-Wave and Dv/Dt Output Filters

VLT® Sine-wave Filter MCC 101 output filters are differential-mode low-pass filters that suppress the switching frequency component from the drive and smooth out the phase-to-phase output voltage of the drive to become sinusoidal. This reduces the motor insulation stress and bearing currents.

By supplying the motor with a sinusoidal voltage waveform, the switching acoustic noise from the motor is also eliminated. Submersible bore pump motors are particularly susceptible to the PWM waveform generated by variable speed drives and hence these filters are typically recommended by most major OEM suppliers.

MCC 102 dV/dt filters are differential-mode filters which reduce motor terminal phase-to-phase peak voltage spikes and reduce the rise time to a level that lowers the stress on the insulation of motor windings.

Low Harmonic / Regenerative Drives

The Vacon NXC low-harmonic cabinet drive offers an excellent total solution to meet even the most demanding power quality requirements. The drive complies with IEEE519, G4/5 harmonic standards, when correctly installed.

The low current THDi reduces supply currents and allows supply transformers, protection devices and power cables to be smaller. It creates savings for new and retrofit projects because there is no need to invest in expensive 12 or 18 pulse transformers when a new or existing 6 pulse transformer can be used.

The Vacon NXC low-harmonic cabinet drive also offers the possibility of regenerative braking, lowering costs by sending energy, that would otherwise be wasted as heat, back to the grid.

With a common DC bus topology and modular power sections, The Vacon NXC can also be configured for many applications including multi-inverter system drives and alternative / renewable energy applications.

Braking Resistors

Braking resistors are used to provide accurate control of machinery in demanding applications where the inertia of the load can often overcome the motor, or a fast de-acceleration is required.

Selection of a suitable braking resistor must consider the type of load to be controlled, braking time required and minimum resistance value for the specific VSD.

Centralian Controls can assist in the correct selection of braking resistor to suit your application.
